So many people who are or have been the partner of someone with Borderline Personality Disorder continue to believe, despite, punishment, rage, the silent treatment that they are loved. No matter the type of relationship, adult child of BPD, friend etc. people with BPD do not know how to truly love until and unless they get significant therapy and engage in the necessary learning and emotional growth required for them to emotionally mature enough to be able to love. For those with BPD what you believe is love from the person with BPD in your life is NEED, their NEED to live through you to feel that they exist.
