In Scottish folklore, the Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui (also known as Am Fear Liath Mòr) is rumoured to be a great gray giant who stalks the mist of Scotland's second highest mountain, Ben MacDhui. Sighted and encountered for at least the last 150 years, this eerie entity is associated with the sound of loud footsteps and mysterious feelings of dread. When sighted, descriptions of the mythical Grey Man monster range from spectral to hair-covered. With a long list of reputable witnesses, including mountaineer Professor J. Norman Collie and reincarnationist Joan Grant, it is difficult to dismiss the Grey Man as mere fantasy, with many arguing that a giant -- material or even supernatural -- lives atop Ben MacDhui. Others have spoken of spirits and ghosts, Bigfoot and even aliens. What is certain, is that the Grey Man represents one of the British Isles' most enduring tales of the paranormal.
