Winter Closing Of The Soo Locks To Begin Soon

The U.S. Arm Corps of Engineers announced the process of closing the Soo Locks for the winter will be starting soon.

At 7:00am on December 17th, the MacArthur lock will close for the Navigation Season, and will remain closed until April 24th, 2024.

This will allow crews to being their Annual winter maintenance on the oldest and smallest lock.

The Poe Lock will remain open until January 15th, 2024, when all shipping through the Soo Locks will stop for the winter.
