It’s Hard to See the Sweater When You’re Just a Thread
In Luke 19:1, Jesus enters and passes through Jericho, and a rich tax collector named Zacchaeus seeks to see Jesus. He is short in stature and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus. Jesus sees him and asks him to come down to his house. Zacchaeus is a sinner, but Jesus tells him that half of his goods are given to the poor and he will restore those who have taken from him. Jesus then says that salvation comes to this house, as he is a son of Abraham.
The sycamore tree symbolizes regeneration in ancient times, and it is often used to attend services without being seen. This experience can help saints overcome struggles in their spiritual walk and avoid being approached by overzealous people. The word sycamore appears seven times in the Old Testament, with the most important mention in Luke 19:4. The sycamore tree is unlikely to need much attention once established, but after a saint is grounded in the truth and applies it to their life, they should not need much attention.
