The Boy and the Heron Makes History for Studio Ghibli

Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film The Boy and the Heron is on track to make history for Studio Ghibli by becoming the first original anime film to open at the top of the North America charts.

Early projections for The Boy and the Heron have it making $10-$11 million domestically during its opening weekend. It is not the highest grossing original anime to open in North America, but with no other major releases this film was able to make big waves.
