Space Exploration In The 70's Vs. Today

Technology has advanced so far since the 70's, from space exploration to the private sector. After being the first to reach the moon however, where have we gone from there? Right now we are shooting for Mars, but with technology improving at an astonishing rate, we may be able to go further.
