Why is Gucci so expensive

I went to school at an "elite" private school, millionaires, politicians, etc. My parents were both doctors and we were definitely on the lower end of the income scale. It's funny because these kids didn't wear designer clothes, they literally shopped at Goodwill. That was like the cool thing to do. Kids would hop into their brand new M3 their dad bought them in ratty tshirts and corduroys. Being around that kind of took the shine off designer brands for me, but I do understand it as an aspirational symbol. It's just interesting that some of the people that actually have the type of money the rest of us aspire to don't give a shit about designer labels
