Bill Janklow, a prominent American politician, was involved in a fatal car accident in 2003. Janklow, at the time serving as the U.S. Representative from South Dakota, was driving his vehicle at a high speed and ran a stop sign, colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, Randolph Scott, was killed in the crash.
In 2004, Janklow was convicted of second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, and running a stop sign. He resigned from his congressional seat after the conviction. Janklow received a 100-day jail sentence, which he served, and he was also disbarred as an attorney. The incident had significant legal and political repercussions for Janklow, ending his political career and tarnishing his legacy.
