As summer wanes in New York’s Finger Lakes, crows descend on the fields, hunting insects and a treat, corn on the cob.

A Phone In My Pocket Production Produced and Directed by BDaddySlim The Great Blue Heron stands nearly four feet tall. Herons migrate to the south to locate areas with unfrozen waters in the winter. They return north as soon as the ice melts, usually by this time of year in March. I filmed this last summer and have yet to see him this year. Herons feed during both day and night and eat fish, snakes, frogs, crustaceans, birds, small mammals, and insects.

The pair of Canadian geese are protecting their two goslings from the inquisitive white-tailed deer. Onlookers are a pair of mallard ducks, a Grackle, and a barely visible rabbit.

Food for color of change! I trim my Holly bushes in December, but I try to leave the Holly berries for the birds. The Male Cardinal who ingests the most red berries will end up with the brightest red feathers come spring. Then he'll go a courtin'. The female Cardinals prefer the bright red plumage!

Also know as a Mud Hen, enjoying lunch behind the break wall.

The coyote lurked along the side of the pond eyeing the geese and their goslings, but they had seen the coyote and knew the danger. The struggle for survival begins. Who will emerge victorious?
