We all have our cross to bear and in the case of Commander Shaw, an inspecting officer at Naval HQ at Portsmouth, it's a corker. The constant thorn in his side is a detachment stationed on an island which, unfortunately for him, is just out of telescope range of his office window. What makes that so maddening is that although he can't see if they are up to something - he knows they are.
