2 Samuel 3: 1-39 The defection and murder of Abner

This chapter shows the how the defection of Abner from Ishbosheth to David took place. It shows how Abner sought to bring the kingdom to David. it reveals how Abner was killed in an act of treachery by Joab, David's General and brother of Asahel who was reluctantly killed in battle by Abner. Joab seeks to be the avenger of blood but does not follow the path outlined by scripture. David mourns for Abner.
