9/11 A Spire Thought Experiment

Why was there no loud explosions on 9/11 when the towers disintegrated into dust, like one would expect in a conventional controlled demolition?

You see the tower seems to be peeled open like a banana, leaving some of the solid steel core spire standing for a few seconds, before the approximately 900 foot tall structure just seems to dissolve down vertically over where 16 people survived in stairwell B between the 2nd and 22nd floor.

Then let's compare that solid steel spire to a conventional controlled demolition of a steel bridge.

The survivors heard no loud explosions, no flashes of bright light, no molten steel raining on them, they did not go blind or deaf due to light flashes or explosions, they weren’t hit by falling debris - POOF they are gone into a HUGE DUST cloud.
