The military industrial complex is heavily funded by tax dollars, resulting in over $800 billion per year being spent on a military empire controlled by operatives who are unaccountable to the public. In other words, much of the spending is kept secret from the public, who are expected to pay without question. The government keeps this hidden.

The CIA has a history of overthrowing governments. When Kennedy was assassinated, they were able to succeed. At that time, the findings of the Warren Commission were believed by many people who trusted their government and the mainstream media. In order to prevent further abuses, President Ford established an Intelligence Oversight Board. However, the CIA's repeated successes made them increasingly audacious. The board was quickly filled with associates by the time Bush arrived, but no action was taken, and whistleblowers were harassed and silenced.
