The Festival of Osiris was a great annual procession that took place in the city of Abydos, the cult center of the god Osiris. It followed a route from the god’s temple in the town, across the low desert landscape, to the site of the early royal tombs at Umm el-Qa’ab, where one of the tombs was interpreted to be that of the god.
The festival was also celebrated at other cult centers dedicated to Osiris throughout Egypt, such as Bubastis, Busiris, Memphis, and Thebes.
