To prevent adverse outcomes of noise exposure:
1. Choose low-noise tools and machinery.
2. Maintain and lubricate machinery and equipment (e.g., oil bearings)
3. Place a barrier between the noise source
and employee (e.g., sound walls or curtains)
4. Enclose or isolate the noise source.
5. In addition to engineering controls, use appropriate hearing protection equipment (e.g ear plug, ear muff)
Noise levels should be reduced to acceptable levels.
