Yambolski Koledari over the years with Manager Tsvetan Andreev

The Yambol Buenek dates back to the beginning of the last century and is held every year on the Nativity of Christ. A specific feature of this unique custom are the unique dancing carolers in Bulgaria. There are similar varieties associated with other holidays from the ritual Bulgarian calendar, but this Christmas tradition remains the most established for Yambol. Buenek or buenets is a Bulgarian folk custom performed in Eastern Bulgaria.
It is performed for health and fertility, and its name comes from the nature of the dance which is performed - a wild dance, a fast-tumbling dance. There are several varieties of the tradition at different times and in different parts of Bulgaria, the most established of them being the Yambol Christmas Buenek, distinguished by the unique dancing carolers in Bulgaria.
