genes and alleles

Genes are segments of DNA that carry instructions for building and maintaining an organism. Alleles, on the other hand, are different versions of a gene that can occupy a specific locus on a chromosome. In simpler terms, a gene is the entire instruction manual, while an allele is a particular edition of a specific chapter in that manual. They are related as alleles represent variations within genes. Size is not a relevant comparison, as genes and alleles are measured in terms of information content rather than physical dimensions.
