Suicide of the West

In this video, I discuss James Burnham's work, 'Suicide of the West: An Essay on the Meaning and Destiny of Liberalism.'

Burnham begins this book by observing that the West is in a state of territorial decline; he argues that liberalism can help us understand how this decline occurred.

Throughout the work, he gives a comprehensive analysis of liberalism. I focus on only one aspect of this analysis; namely, liberalism's attitude towards the nation. I argue that liberalism's antipathy towards the nation (and by extension, Western civilisation) explains its decline.
