When getting into a relationship, you can't assume that the other person is going to walk into knowing your values, boundaries, the way you do things, the way you do relationships, etc.

If they figure it out, great! You just can't assume it, if you haven't done anything to reinforce it. You have to show and teach the other person the way you like to do things, and it's them respecting your values, and vice versa, that deepens the bond you have.
