How can we see the planets that are behind us at night time?

When we’re faced away from the sun that’s when it’s nighttime right?

So how do we look in the night sky and see planets that are supposed to be behind us?

Also, how come we can’t see mercury and Venus eclipse in the sun if they’re in front of us???🤨🤔😐🤨🧐
