FBI Director, Christopher Wray testified that there were 3 groups of people that were at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, during the riot. The first group, he said, is the largest group and the group that was the least of his focus. These were rowdy, but peaceful demonstrators that were only in Washington to exercise their First Amendment rights. This group was by far the largest group, according to Director Wray. The second group came to Washington planning on being group #1, but they were, "swept up with emotion and participated in low level crimes, like trespass on Capitol grounds." The third group, he said, was the "smallest group numerically, but by far and away the most serious group." This 3rd group was first to attack the Capitol that day, breaking through the Capitol Police lines with violence. Ray Epps was with group #3. The most serious group according to Director Wray.
