During our very first podcast, Jake lays out his idea for how we could actually reform how we do taxes in the United States. He prefaces that any politician is welcome to steal this idea. The basic premise is that the bulk of taxes would go to the local municipality, county, parish, etc. The next level would go to the state, but since more money is going directly to the local areas, the state should be able to take less revenue, but even worst case it should remain at about the same level it is now. The least of amount of your income taxed goes to the federal government. This would lead to both more efficient government spending and less tax revenue collected overall.
