What is a blessing?

"Have a blessed year!" have you ever wished or declared this over someone? Yet, what do we really wish for them? What do we really want to invoke upon their lives? Is it money? Good health? A new house and a car? Let's say you have something in your mind when you bless someone... But what does it mean to be blessed really?
