RB Barry Sanders continued his torrid rushing pace by rambling for 146 yards on 26 carries. Detroit took a 25-18 advantage when Scott Mitchell (16-of-30 for 180 yards, 2 TDs) found Herman Moore (9 receptions for 106 yards) for their second touchdown connection on the day. Giant QB Dave Brown found Alfred Pierce on a 7-yard scoring strike late in the fourth quarter to send the game into the extra stanza. After forcing a New York punt, the Lions drove 70 yards, aided by clutch third down receptions by Moore and Sanders, to set up Hanson's third game-winner this year.
