The Big Bang Theory Called Into Question

The concept of the Big Bang theory made its debut in a scientific paper in 1931, credited to physicist Georges Lemaître. Many of our notions about the universe and its expansion rate stem from his ideas.

However, in 2019, the validity of this expansion rate, known as the Hubble Constant, came under scrutiny. Multiple research teams proposed that either the calculation of the expansion rate was inaccurate or there were fundamental issues with our understanding of the universe.
