NATO is planning to hold the biggest exercise in its history "Steadfast Defender 2024", which simulates the beginning of World War III. The Spanish ABC publication writes about this.
As mentioned in the publication, according to the scenario of the exercises, a conventional enemy called "Occasus", which has great similarities with Russia, attacks the member country of the alliance. After that, the collective defence clause comes into force.
According to the publication, all NATO countries will send their soldiers to participate in the exercises. Even Sweden, which has not yet completed the process of joining the bloc, will participate in the exercise.
The exercises will take place in Germany, Poland and the Baltic countries, as well as in the North Sea.
At the same time, Spanish journalists hypothesize that "it may be more than ordinary exercises."
Around 90,000 troops will participate in NATO's largest exercise for decades, known as Steadfast Defender 2024, that will kick off next week and run through to May, the alliance's top commander Chris Cavoli said.
"The Alliance will demonstrate its ability to reinforce the Euro-Atlantic area by a transatlantic movement of forces from North America," the US general told reporters in Brussels after a two-day meeting of national chiefs of defense.
The troops will come from NATO allies and Sweden, according to Cavoli.
