Only a Fool Would Write Off Trump

It’s less than 11 months till Americans go to the polls, and only a fool would discount Donald J. Trump. Despite being impeached twice and facing a number of charges in multiple criminal cases, Trump has a real chance to return to the White House and become the next and 47th President of the United States. The Democratic Party and the media view him as unfit for office, but millions of voters disagree. Recent polling shows him leading his Republican rivals by more than 50 percentage points. Voters are unhappy with Biden. He says the economy is in good shape, yet the voters see otherwise. Their wages are not keeping pace with the costs of essential goods and services. People are worried about crime and nervous about the flow of illegal migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump is adept at channelling those fears, while also presenting himself as someone who comes from outside the political system. He declares the country is in chaos, and then deftly offers himself as saviour. Even if you don’t like him, Trump just may be the next president.
