Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia announced that the government will appeal a Federal Court ruling that found the February 2022 invocation of the Emergencies Act to be unreasonable and led to an infringement of Charter rights. The case was brought forward by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the Canadian Constitution Foundation, as well as other individuals.
