This guitar lesson is designed to help you learn the most common guitar chords in the most common guitar keys. If you practice these guitar chord progressions, it will help you develop the required muscle memory and dexterity to play guitar chords and guitar progressions more efficiently. The Nashville Number System is similar but the Nashville Number System is actually ALL MAJOR chords for each scale degree. Diatonically that doesn't make sense since because if you are in a major key the 1, 4, and 5 chords are major, the 2, 3, and 6 chords are minor, and the 7 is diminished. The Diatonic Number system is commonly used by professional musicians that need to learn songs quickly, and communicate the chords to other musicians efficiently. It is even done on the fly as we are playing the piece of music as in the sessions I do.

1st - Guitar chords are played in groups of chords or what are called chord progressions. A majority of songs use a lot of the same chord progressions and usually stay in one key. Typically songs a have a 1 major chord, root or key, 4 major chord, 5 major chord and often times a 6 minor chord.
