U.S. Coast Guard Calls Of Search For Missing Upper Peninsula Snowmobiler

Over the weekend the U.S. Coast Guard officially suspended the search efforts for a missing snowmobiler who disappeared off the coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula, in the U.P.

On Thursday the search began after officials received an image of a message from the driver known as Bruce, which read, “Got to close to the water to check out the view. Iceberg snapped off and I am floating to Canada. It’s melting fast…..send help. Bruce.”

After aerial and sea searches, the Coast Guard concluded ice conditions and weather did not support the right conditions to support an ice floe large enough to carry the weight of a snowmobile.
