Galatians 3:6-14 “A Convincing Argument” 1/14/2024

Listen…Paul is going to counter the teachings of the Judaizers by using Scripture…
Isn’t it amazing that the word of God counteracts falsehoods and lies?
However, the Judaizers were also using Scripture to make their case.
But just as Satan quoted the Scripture to Jesus…but left some important facts out…the Judaizers were leaving out some important facts as well.
And just as Jesus corrected Satan’s misuse of the word…Paul would let the Judaizers know that they cannot build doctrine on a couple of verses.
Here is what was happening to the Gentiles and the Jews who didn’t know the word of God…
The Judaizers would present a very convincing argument.
They would take the new converts to Genesis 17 and read this:
And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. (Genesis 17:7 ESV)
Then a couple of verses later they would point out that it says this:
This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. (Genesis 17:10 ESV)
And they would point the newly saved Gentile to these verses and say:
“See, if you really want to be part of the covenant, you must be circumcised.”
And they were able to get many Gentiles to see it their way.
So, if you were Paul how would you challenge their argument…what would you offer as proof that their position was wrong?
