Surah Maryam

This Surah which is called 'Maryam' after the Virgin Mary describes the blessings bestowed on the prophets, as well as the punishment for the unfaithful, in response to a prayer by Zechariah for an heir to continue his service to God as a preacher in the Jerusalem temple after his death.
