You'd think Knuckles' power would've simply ended Finitevus' life, since he wasn't telling his power to empower him, and it's not like Dimitri became like Finitevus after HE used something like a Chaos Siphon Suit on himself. And there's no way Knuckles would make Echidnaopolis vanish, when he said he was glad it was back because it gave him back his mom. If the idea is he did it because Finitevus wanted it, the same logic would apply to him simply making the entire world vanish instantly, which he would do, because why would he not have all of his free will gone right away? Brainwashing in Sonic was always established to be at full power right away. He didn't clean up a mess, by making it into another mess.
