Neuralink: The Danger of Transhumanism and Mind Control

Elon Musk shocked the world on January 29th, when he announced that Neuralink had been implanted into the first human being. News media celebrated the achievement as a step forward to restoring functions to humans in the future. The FDA approved clinical human trials 8 months prior and many have been waiting to see if a brave individual would step up to participate. This is not a step towards transhumanism, this is a giant leap for mankind into the journey of understanding the brain.

There is an inherent danger to every human being currently on earth and the future of our human race now. In known history we have been in a natural state. Rapidly since the turn of the 21st century we have begin to blur the lines between technology and the human experience. Augmented and virtual reality began to become mainstream over the last five years. Humans are more accepting of hacking their bodies with some implanting near field communication devices to manage tasks like banking.

Allowing a connection directly to the brain is new and terrifying territory. Science fiction movies have warned of artificial intelligence and the merging of humans with biotechnology. Elon Musk has stated that this technology is not about restoring functions to humans, but rather, a symbiotic relationship with artificial intelligence and merging what could be possible for the human experience.

As Neuralink begins their trial an immediate ethics conversation with clearly defined parameters must be announced. This technology could potentially unlock the ability to control brain waves and responses through wireless communication in the near future. In the wrong hands, individuals could control thoughts, actions, and even augment new realities into those they seek to influence. This is no longer tales of blockbuster movies. Elon has created a nightmare scenario unfolding faster than anyone imagined.
