Purge Purgatory part 2 doubt

Purgatory proponents bragg that purgatory has its roots in the book of the apocrypha [II Maccabees 12] in which prayers for the dead are performed and that this has been going on for thousands of years.

If only they knew what they were doing! LOL

This invalidates the book of Maccabees, all of the other books of the apocrypha, and the practice of praying for the dead, all of which are the historical and spiritual foundations of purgatory!!
