62
The United States tested its first full-scale hydrogen bomb on November 1, 1952 at 07:15 local time at Enewetak Atoll in the South Pacific. The test, known as Operation Ivy or Ivy Mike, produced a yield of 10.4 megatons of TNT, which is 500 times larger than the Nagasaki bomb and 1,000 times larger than the Hiroshima bomb. The explosion created a crater 6,240 feet in diameter and 164 feet deep, and obliterated the small island of Elugelab.
