Hike #1: Monument Peak & Black Rocks, Lake Mathews, CA

Visit Date: 12/27/20. My first hiking video! Although this was a test run, the results were good. Even when mistakes were made, like not charging the battery before heading out, it is part of the learning process.

Estelle Mountain Reserve is a little known open space in western Riverside County, CA. I was the only hiker out there on the day. I did see a few dirt bikers shredding the wide dirt trails, but no other visitors. Monument Peak offers great views over Lake Matthews and the surrounding open space. Black Rocks feels like a feature that is out of place in a large population zone, like it was transported there from the desert. However, it is natural and a fine addition to the looping hike of the park.
