Title: Aloo Paratha (Potato Stuffed Flatbread)
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 cups whole wheat flour
Water (as needed for kneading)
Salt (to taste)
1 tablespoon oil (optional)
For the Potato Filling:
3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
For Cooking:
Ghee or oil for frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add oil if using.
Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth and soft dough. Let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes.
Prepare the Potato Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, finely chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and chopped fresh coriander leaves.
Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed throughout the potato filling.
Assemble and Cook Aloo Paratha:
Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and roll them into balls.
Take a dough ball, flatten it slightly, and place a portion of the potato filling in the center.
Gather the edges of the dough to enclose the filling and pinch to seal. Flatten the stuffed ball with your palms.
Roll the stuffed ball into a flat disc, using some dry flour to prevent sticking.
Heat a griddle or flat pan over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot surface.
Cook one side until you see small bubbles, then flip and cook the other side.
Apply ghee or oil on both sides, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking. Cook until golden brown spots appear on both sides.
Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls and potato filling.
Serve Aloo Paratha:
Serve hot Aloo Parathas with yogurt, pickles, or your favorite chutney.
