Auburn Police and K9 Dexter track, arrest suspected bank robber

At 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, the Auburn Police Department received a report of a bank robbery in the 100 Block of Auburn Way S. (map below).

Police said that a male suspect in his 40s walked into the bank and showed a message on his phone demanding money.

The teller handed the suspect the money, which contained a tracker, and the suspect left.

Thanks to the tracker and K9 Dexter, who was able to track his entire route, the suspect was arrested within 30 minutes of the robbery outside a nearby Safeway.
