So much about Issue 50 is dumb that I didn't get to cover, like Surge choosing to fall instead of get a chance to continue the fight when she was brainwashed to want to fight him more than anything else, which would only make sense if her brainwashing wore off and now she hates him for her own reasons. And Starline would've made himself invincible because he did that for Surge so obviously he would survive literally anything, because he'd have to have no real will to live to not make himself invincible. And Surge has to be able to regenerate from anything too or any explosion from training would've ended her life, so he would've come back after the city was destroyed later. Flynn just wants to stop using a gay-coded male character. He did this to Cobor too.
