When I first read these comics I didn't think Sonic was being sarcastic about big whoop because I didn't see his face and it'd be hypocritical for someone who just lectured that he wants everyone to be alive and get to see the world! And for MOST Sonics, this isn't unlike him, he's wanted Ixis to be defeated by an avalanche before, so the main problem is him having no empathy for Belle. He doesn't care how she feels about seeing something traumatic.
