Upper Peninsula Bear Wakes Up From Hibernation Due To Warm Temps

The recent warm trend is not only affecting outdoor enthusiasts, but also the bears. Well, at least one brown bear in an Upper Peninsula Zoo.

Hutch, a 9-year-old Syrian brown bear came out of his hibernation late last week to peek at what was going on with the weather.

Officials say it is normal for bears to wake up during their hibernation, especially if something is off, like this year's temps and snowfall, and do warn hikers to be aware of this possibility in the woods as well.

Hutch is reported to already be back in his den, and fast asleep.
