It's February, and anyone who lives in the Dominican Republic knows that Carnival, one of Liane’s and my favorite celebrations, to honor their independence which is February 27th. Enjoy some of our tiny films from previous Carnival celebrations, and while this one is one of the best in La Vega, the Capitol, and Punta Cana, among others, each have their own parade.

The procession takes place every Sunday throughout the month of February. The diversity of the places Liane and I have visited is incredible. But, without question, one of the most inventive and visually appealing shows is the carnival. It takes them about a year to produce these costumes, and the various groups collaborate to create team costumes that are almost unbelievable. Personally, I believe that the last weekend and the final Thursday of the month are the greatest times to visit La Vega. You will not be disappointed there.
