MORTAL KOMBAT SHAOLIN MONKS

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is a 2005 beat 'em up action-adventure video game developed and published by Midway for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It is a spin-off of the Mortal Kombat fighting series. The game is not part of the original series of fighting games, but is considered by series creator and game director, Ed Boon, a more complete beginning to the series' history and the definitive version of the events that occurred between the first two games in the series. series, which can be considered a tiny reboot.

A tournament takes place on Shang Tsung's island. While the sorcerer watches sitting on his throne, several fights occur. The Shaolin monk Liu Kang defeats Shang Tsung, and the giant Goro appears to protect him. While Goro distracts the others, Shang Tsung creates a portal to Outworld and escapes. Raiden appears next and informs that the other fighters must flee the island, as it is sinking into the sea.

Most manage to escape and seek shelter at Wu Shi Academy. Liu Kang and Kung Lao, however, need to fight until they reach a portal that takes them to the academy as a hole has opened beneath them. Upon arriving, they find Baraka and his Tarkatan army attacking the Academy. The Tarkatans are defeated, but Baraka captures Sonya Blade. Raiden informs that Shang Tsung wants to lure the fighters to Exoterra, where he could attack them with his minions and remain in power. If he succeeds in his plan, Shang Tsung will be able to conquer Earth without winning the Mortal Kombat tournament, which is against the rules.

Liu Kang and Kung Lao leave for Exoterra trying to stop Tsung's plan, guided by Raiden and helped by Johnny Cage. During their journey, they have the support of Princess Kitana and manage to save Sonya before defeating Shang Tsung, but they then have to face another opponent: the emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn. Also at the end of the game it is possible to see the appearance of Quan Chi obtaining Onaga's medallion that was with Shao Kahn.
