Upper Peninsula School's Fight To Change Mascot Continues

The contentious process of changing Marquette High School's mascot from the Redmen and Redettes continues to hit roadblocks.

Two weeks ago, it was announced after a long process that the school board was accepting The Sentinels as their new mascot name. Immediately after a local woman, Margaret Brumm, announced she had trademarked the name and would sue the school if they used it.

Marquette Area Public Schools announced this week they are moving forward with the new name after many legal consultations, and stated Miss Brumm had no legal grounds to come after the school board.
