Security Tightened in Banbhoolpura as Tensions Continue to Simmer in Haldwani

Security heightened in the violence-hit Haldwani on February 11. Security officials deployed in various parts of Haldwani to maintain law and order situation in the area. The Uttarakhand government, on February 10, demanded four additional companies of central paramilitary forces to maintain law and order situation in Nainital’s Banbhoolpura where violence erupted a few days ago during an anti-encroachment drive by the district administration.So far, five people have been killed, and over 100 policemen sustained injuries in the Haldwani violence. In the aftermath of the attack, a curfew has been imposed in Haldwani by the district administration.
