Paul Murphy - 'So-Called Friends (4th St)' , 'As Ye Sow (So Shall Ye Reap)' 'Watchtower' 'Where Does

This is part 2 of an hour-long electric set (videos of the preceding songs also on my channels). What we have here are:

'So-Called Friends (Positively 4th Street)' - this is my rewrite of Bob Dylan's classic, 'Positively 4th Street'. The tune is entirely Bob's, the lyrics, bar a couple of opening words, are entirely mine. Bob was singing about being let down - I am singing about vermin who rob dying men and cover up assaults on offspring. There is a false start on this, as I has split my pick on the preceding number, and for the first time in 40 years, didn't have a spare one taped to the bottom of my guitar.

'As Ye Sow (So Shall Ye Reap)' - this is aimed at, not only abussers, but those who view it and say nothing, and those agencies that 'investigate' it and do not do their job properly so that it continues. If you are in the UK, you know that, on an almost daily basis, the newspapers will have a tragic story on the ramifications of their blindness and inefficiency.

'All Along The Watchtower' - well, this needs no introduction, Bob Dylan's legendary number, beloved of guitarists since Jimi took it and shook it. Seldom said, but also valid, is the opening line - every musician, performer, lover, employee, knows the resonance of that line. The song continues with the 2 new verses that I wrote to conclude the story, or rather, conclude it at a different place (nb, Bob's is better, but once you start playing that riff you can't stop, and I always want something to sing over it).

'Where Does The Sun Go To At Night?' - words by my amazingly talented and extremely wonderful daughter Emily [pretty darn good for a 9-year-old]. I added the tune. Originally, and usually, an acoustic lullaby, here I kicked it up a few decibels. Em's favourite album at present is Lennon's 'Rock N' Roll', so I don't think she would mind.
