An Okaloosa County deputy has resigned after confusing a acorn falling for a gunshot.
You’ll see Deputy Jesse Hernandez open fire after mistaking a acorn for a gunshot.
Hernandez is shooting into his own police car where he has a handcuffed, unarmed suspect inside.
In the second clip, Sgt Beth Roberts returns fire in Hernandez’s direction.
Thankfully both officers missed the unarmed suspect.
According to reports, somehow both deputies were cleared of criminal wrongdoing.
