The Beatles - Let It Be [Full Album] (1970)
"Let It Be" is the twelfth and final studio album (thirteenth and last in the United States) by British pop rock band The Beatles. It was released on May 8, 1970, days after the release was made official. Paul McCartney of the band, and with it the public dissolution of the group
Despite being mostly recorded during January 1969, the album is considered to be the band's last album, as it was released after Abbey Road, which was released in September 1969.
It is a controversial album from its conception: Once they stopped playing live in 1966 due to the impossibility of capturing their music on stage, The Beatles set out to record an album to play a last live concert, considering different possibilities such as carry out the event on a boat in full navigation. The proposal was called Get Back.
Therefore the recording sessions of the disc began to be filmed in 1969, by the filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg. The material was released as a film and won an Oscar for best soundtrack in 1970.
The rehearsals were tense, with constant discussions between the members of the group, which from their previous albums denoted an increasingly worse and more hostile coexistence between them. The increasingly frequent presence of Yoko Ono in the sessions and the exhaustion and disinterest of Lennon, Harrison and Starr were important factors. The collapse of the group led to the abandonment of the recording sessions in favor of Abbey Road, and only until April 1970 was it finished with the production of Phil Spector.
The album is considered one of the best albums in the history of music, although it did not enjoy critical acceptance with respect to other works by the group. Despite this, it was a commercial success, being number 1 in the United States. and the UK. The singles Get Back, Let It Be and The Long and Widding Road / For You Blue were extracted. Its cover has also become iconic, being recreated multiple times by other artists, television series, and movies. In 2020, the album was ranked 342 on the list of the 500 best albums of all time, by the American magazine Rolling Stone.
