016 Gospel Differences????

Why are there differences in the Gospels which don't seem to be explained by differing perspectives? Should we expect the Gospel writers to use the writing standards of the 1st Century or some different standard? Why do some Bible scholars allow for the use of some literary devices in scripture while rejecting the claim that other literary devices were used?
